Looks like even Wookiees run into trouble with the TSA. Actor Peter Mayhew, who portrayed Chewbacca in the original Star Wars series, was on a flight home from a Denver Comic Con back on June 3rd when the TSA stopped him at the security check.
Why, you may wonder? Because he was carrying his custom-made light saber cane! The TSA seized the actor’s cane at security, but they were about to realize why it’s “never wise to upset a Wookiee.” After being stopped, the actor turned to help on his popular Twitter account, @TheWookieeRoars, for help from his fans.
The actor tweeted out “@AmericanAir won’t allow me through the airport with me cane! Can I get a retweet?” Soon after the tweet took off, the TSA deemed his light saber cane wasn’t a security threat and let him board.
Magic words to TSA are not “please” or “thank you”.. It’s “Twitter”.. cane released to go home.. twitter.com/TheWookieeRoar…

Mayhew, 69, who stands at 7 ft. 2 inches, later tweeted “Giant man need giant cane.. small cane snap like toothpick…. besides.. my light saber cane is just cool.. I would miss it..”
However, it was a happy ending for Chewy and his cane, Mayhew was later reunited with his awesome light saber cane.

But as New York Post points out, Astronomer Ray Sanders said of the whole light saber kerfuffle: “TSA just learned Star Wars lesson #1: Let the Wookie win.”
