Santa Monica High Seniors Campaigning To ‘Get Obama To The Greek’

The senior class at Santa Monica High School is on a mission to ‘Get Obama To The Greek.’ A group of students cordially invited President Barack Obama to attend their High School graduation by creating a YouTube video in hopes the President would get wind of it, reports the L.A. Times.

In the video, students give reasons why Obama should appear at their graduation ceremony by highlighting their school’s various academic, athletic and leadership achievements. Students also note that this year will be the 100th graduating class from the school, which will be held at the school’s Memorial Greek Theatre.

President Obama is scheduled to visit Los Angeles Friday, June 7th for his first fundraiser since his reelection, which happens on the same day as the school’s graduation. The students posted the video with the hashtag ‘#getobamatothegreek’ in hopes the video would go viral and convince the President to make an appearance.

Since the video was posted on June 2nd, it’s garnered nearly 2,000 views and the attention of several local news outlets, but there’s no word yet whether the White House has seen the video or if the President plans to attend the ceremony.
