This morning, The K-EARTH 101 Morning Show had the pleasure of welcoming Nancy Cartwright, a.k.a. Bart Simpson, to the studio to talk about her exciting charity poker event and of course, her experience on The Simpsons!
For the past 25 seasons, Nancy has been the unmistakeable voice of Bart Simpson (among dozens of others) on the long running animated series.
The show has become a fixture in pop culture and has made history as the longest running sitcom in America with no intention to stop anytime soon. Now approaching its 26th season, Nancy talks about how much longer she predicts the series to run.
“My guess is that we’re going to be around as long as it’s fun,” said Nancy. “Jim Brooks and Matt Groening have done such a great job raising the bar and keeping the standard high, and it’s still fun, so why not?”
From her success as the voice of Bart Simpson, Nancy has used her good fortune to help the community through her non-profit children’s organization Happy House. Every year, Nancy hosts a big fundraiser bash at her own home to help raise money for charity programs like Good Choices and the Boys and Girls Club.
Now in its 8th year, Nancy invites everyone to her Annual Happy House Texas Hold ‘Em Party taking place at the ‘House That Bart Built’ this Saturday. Her event has a little something for the grownups and the kids with a poker tournament, BBQ (this year sponsored by Whole Foods), prizes, games and much more! Plus, you’ll be contributing to a good cause.
“It’s been making a difference in these kids’ lives,” Nancy on her Happy House program. “You just look around and there’s problems out there and parents are looking for solutions. Kids don’t know what to do, there’s no moral compass to guide these kids…my program gives you easy rules to follow – set a good example, love and help your parents – common sense things like that.”
