For the first time since her surprising arrest in Atlanta, actress Reese Witherspoon talked about her now infamous incident in a sit down interview with George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America this morning.
In the interview, Reese explained the series of events that happened on that night in Atlanta, which resulted in her and husband Jim Toth being arrested.
“It was just one of those nights,” she told GMA. “We had one too many glasses of wine and we thought we were fine to drive and we absolutely were not. It’s just completely unacceptable and we are so sorry and embarrassed. You know it was just poor judgement.”
She told George that she said all kinds of crazy things including “Do you know my name?” to the police officer that night, because she “panicked” upon seeing her husband being arrested.
“I told him I was pregnant. I’m not pregnant. I said all kinds of crazy things,” she said. “I have no idea what I was talking about. I am so sorry. I was so disrespectful to him. I have police officers in my family. I work with police officers every day. I know better. It’s just unacceptable.”
In addition to her honest and open explanation of the incident, Reese has spoken to the officer and has apologized for her disorderly behavior.
