Bob Hope’s Belongings Up For Sale In Charity Auction
Have you ever wanted to own a piece of entertainment history? Your chance is coming up as hundreds of items once belonging to TV icon Bob Hope and his wife Dolores go up for sale in a charity auction at St. Charles Borromeo Church in North Hollywood.
The event will auction off Hope’s personal belongings including paintings, furniture, pictures, decorations, home goods and more, as well as memorabilia spanning his long career in show business. Proceeds from the charity event will benefit St. Charles Holy Family Service Center, which provides food and clothing for those in need in the Valley, according to L.A. Daily News.
“I think they’d be very pleased to know that we’re affording their fans and people that knew her from the church and all of that the opportunity to see so many of the things that meant something to them,” Hope’s daughter Linda said of her parents. “This way, there’s certainly a satisfaction to know that somebody knows who they’re from and is enjoying the item that Mother or Dad loved. “
Items on sale will be displayed on tables inside the church and range in price from $10 to hundreds of dollars depending on the item. The auction is a cash-only event, but is free to come browse the items on sale.
The event is an ongoing effort by Linda to sell her parents’ belongings to prepare the Hope’s Toluca Lake estate for selling. Last December, Linda held a public garage sale at the Toluca Lake home to help clear out some of the items collected over the years.
The sale will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Church (10834 Moorpark St., North Hollywood) on Sunday, May 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
