This afternoon on ‘Tickets @ 2′ listen for “Don’t You Want Me?” by The Human League.

It’s that song about a guy who meets a cocktail waitress and turns her into a star before their love goes bad. It was inspired by an article in a woman’s magazine. Lead singer Phil Oakey claims it’s not a love song but about power politics between two people.

In the UK, this was the biggest seller of 1981. It was the first # 1 in the UK and US for Richard Branson’s Virgin label.

The Human League was formed in 1978 by Phil Oakey, Adrian Wright, Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh.

When you hear it play between two and three we’ll take lucky caller 13 to win a pair of tickets to see The Hit Men…the original stars of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons’ this Saturday at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts. 1-800-232-KRTH. (5784)
