Barbara Walters Reportedly Retiring

There must be something in the air because they’re dropping like flies over at The View. Just weeks after original co-host Joy Behar announced her departure from the show after 16 years, we’ve learned that Barbara Walters will be retiring from broadcasting, which includes her post on the long-running talk show.

According to reports on, Walters, 83, is set to make the retirement announcement in May 2014, ending her 52-year broadcast career with the ABC network.

Over the last few months, Walters has had some major health issues including chicken pox that resulted in a brief hiatus from The View and heart surgery a few years ago.

Walters began her career in 1961 as a reporter and writer and has been with ABC since 1976.
