According to several reports surfacing, NBC is reportedly getting ready to retire Jay Leno (again) and replace him with Jimmy Fallon as the new Tonight Show host.
The Hollywood Reporter says the official announcement of the lineup change is expected in May during the industry’s ‘upfronts’ for the new season of TV shows. It will be the summer of 2014 that Fallon will make his debut in the 11:35 p.m. time slot with a formal season kickoff that fall.
The reason for the change is obvious; the network is worried about the competition with Jimmy Kimmel moving into the 11:35 time slot. The network is of course denying these recent reports saying “we do not speculate on rumors.”
And speaking of rumors, listen to the full Entertainment Report to hear who sources say what comedy sweetheart could be taking over in Jimmy Fallon’s time slot once the switch happens!
