Valentine’s Day is one of the biggest days for couples to get engaged, and if you’re planning on popping the big question to surprise your special someone, we found a few tips on making it a moment to remember.

Relationship psychologist Dr. Seth Myers (not the guy from SNL) has some tips for anyone thinking about getting down on one knee this Valentine’s Day.

Tips for proposing on Valentine’s Day:

  • Make sure you’ve talked about how many kids you want
  • Decide where you want to live
  • Check with your significant other’s best friend for any information to use for the proposal
  • Don’t overlook asking her parents for permission for her hand in marriage

We came across some interesting stats on the average spending men and woman will spend on Valentine’s Day with men averaging about $270 on gifts for their sweetheart while women typically plan on spending around $165 on their special someone.
