This particular weekend in history holds a lot of memories for me in my radio career, including the 2 years in 1977 and 1978, that I had the honor of hosting the pre-GRAMMY awards that were then shown clips & photos of during the regular CBS telecast! Take a look below at just some of the stars I got to present their first GRAMMY!

Another Grammy flashback moment from this weekend when Chuck Mangione picks up his 1978 Grammy for “Children Of Sanchez” at the Pre-Grammy Awards Ceremony that I hosted in 1978. It was Chuck Mangione’s second Grammy, and followed a year in 1977 when his big pop hit “Feels So Good” was at the top of the charts. (February 23, 1978) Photo courtesy of Charlie Tuna
Back in 1977 & 1978, I was asked to host the Pre-Grammy Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in L.A., and on my syndicated 70′s radio show this weekend, some flashback moments coming up! Here, Producer of the Year Peter Asher gets his Grammy from me February 19,1977! Peter was also part of the hit singing duet “Peter & Gordon” in the 60′s who had a trio of hits including “A World Without Love”, “I Go To Pieces” and “Lady Godiva”! Cool Tuxedo, huh?
