One of the most recognizable TV cars ever dreamed up, the Batmobile has just been auctioned off at a whopping price of $4.2 million dollars!

The Batmobile that appeared on the Batman TV show from 1966-68 was snatched up in the Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. auction by superfan Rick Champagne on Saturday.

This is the first time the car has ever been put up for auction. The concept car’s creator, George Barris, has kept the Batmobile in its cave after the show ended in 1968, taking it out on tour for car shows around the country.

The car was modeled from a 1955 Lincoln Futura that Barris”purchased years earlier from Ford for $1,” according to MSNBC.
