Friend of the K-EARTH 101 Morning Show, Gloria Pink from the California food stand staple Pink’s Hot Dogs called in this morning to tell listeners about a special tribute their having in honor of Huell Howser today.

“He was a regular visitor to Pink’s, and we actually have a Huell Dog…and it’s in the shape of California and it’s gold!” said Gloria, noting that he would always wait patiently in line and never cut to get his dog.

“He was just this folksy guy from Tennessee who everyone related to, and he said that he was more honored to have a hot dog named after him at Pink’s than to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” she added.

Not only will Pink’s be serving up these special Huell Dogs today, they will have a special banner in his memory.

“We’re actually going to hang a banner today that says ‘ Huell, We Will Miss You,'” said Gloria.

Gloria invites everyone to come out to Pink’s today to have a Huell Dog in memory of this California icon. And what exactly is part of the Huell Dog? It’s two dogs on one bun with mustard, chili and cheese. Sounds just as adventurous as Huell himself.

“He used to say, ‘how many Huell Dogs can you eat?’ and as you know his enthusiasm was contagious,” said Gloria. “We will truly miss him at Pink’s.”
