Good friend of the K-EARTH 101 Morning Show, actress Vanessa Lengies called in this morning to talk about her recent nomination for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Ensemble for her role on the hit FOX show Glee! This huge honor surprised even Vanessa herself.

“I never in my wildest dreams thought I’d be nominated for a SAG Award,” Vanessa told Gary & Lisa.

Many fans may remember Vanessa from her starring role alongside Brittany Snow on the hit show American Dreams back in the early 2000s, which she tells us has many similarities to her new role on Glee.

“It’s got a lot of similar stories, the music, the dancing and I kind of feel at home there with the history of ‘American Dreams’ in my life,” she said.

She tells us how she first got the part of her character Sugar Motta on Glee even though she couldn’t sing or dance.

“My Sugar Motta character … she believes she’s the best thing that ever happened in the singing world and can’t carry a tune,” Vanessa said. “When I auditioned for the pilot … I was just coming in to be funny … and they liked it and kept hiring me back.”

For fans who miss watching American Dreams, Vanessa tells us that the cast of American Dreams will be reuniting at next year’s Austin TV Festival in June. Listen to our full interview below to learn more about the reunion and Vanessa’s current role on Glee!
