Now you can own a piece of Hollywood history from a public garage sale selling the personal items collected by Hollywood legend Bob Hope and his wife, Dolores, over the years.
The garage sale will offer small items owned by the late entertainer up for sale for fans and collectors alike all in the confines of his 15,000 square-foot Toluca Lake mansion located at 10346 Moorpark Street.
The sale, which was postponed last week due to the rain, runs from Saturday, December 8, and Sunday, December 9, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Small collectibles and Christmas decorations will be available for purchase from the estate, but large items such as furniture, artwork, and others items will be auctioned off through Darren Julien’s Auctions sometime next year.
Hope’s grand estate has become a landmark in itself being one of the last connections to old Hollywood and a go-to site every Christmas for an annual tradition that will also mark its final days this holiday season.
“We have the Nativity up that was sort of a Christmas tradition with my parents,” Hope’s daughter, Linda, told the LA Daily News. “This will be the last year that it’s up there, but it’s for all of our neighbors and friends for whom it’s kind of a highlight to have that up there at the corner for the holidays.”
Hope appeared in over 70 movies and shorts during his illustrious career and was a proud supporter of the U.S. Military having appeared in 57 USO tours to entertain the troops. Hope lived to be 100 years old and passed away in 2003 from pneumonia. His wife passed away just last year at the age of 102.
