Famed record producer and owner of the iconic Sunset Strip music venue the Roxy, Lou Adler presents a star-studded evening with some of today’s biggest acts all to honor the music of the one and only Carole King.

The “You’ve Got A Friend” event will celebrate the impact of Carole King’s music and songwriting, and feature her on stage to perform her biggest hits along with an A-list lineup of artists like Katy Perry, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Herb Alpert as well as hosts Jack Nicholson, Quincy Jones and Danny DeVito.

It all takes place at the Dolby Theater at Hollywood and Highland on Tuesday (Dec. 4th), which is the same setting where Carole will be honored with her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday (Dec. 3rd) just outside the theater.

The celebration will benefit Paul Newman’s foundation, The Painted Turtle, a year-round camp that provides children suffering from serious illnesses the chance to enjoy the same experiences and fun of children’s camps.

Co-founded by Adler’s wife and Paul Newman, The Painted Turtle foundation began because they knew “it was important to have a camp for kids who normally couldn’t go to camp, could go to camp.”

Lou not only is throwing this spectacular one night affair to celebrate the music of Carole, but also to celebrate his close friendship to the songwriter. The two still remain close to this day after Lou produced her quintessential 1971 album Tapestry, which won four Grammys including Album of the Year.

“I had a feeling we had done something really important when we finished,” Lou told K-EARTH 101’s Gary Bryan about the making of Tapestry. “Although the first critic I got out of Long Beach said ‘you shouldn’t have made this album, it’s not very good’…that’s the one I remember.”

Well, 40 years later and 10 million plus albums sold, that critic is probably eating their words right about now.

Tickets to the live Carole King celebration are available at various prices starting at $50, which you can purchase by visiting www.dolbytheatre.com.
