In honor of Veterans Day on Sunday and the official federal holiday observance today, we came across an old tribute poem to vets that reminds us of all that they do for the country.

Veterans Day Tribute:

It is the veteran, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the veteran, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the veteran, not the talk show host, who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the veteran, not the community organizer, who has given us freedom of assembly.

It is the veteran, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the veteran, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.

It is the veteran who stands to salute the flag. It is the veteran who serves under the flag. And it is the veteran who has put their life on the line for their country, and for people they’ve never met.

Do you have a veteran or service member in your life you’d like to pay tribute to? Send them a shout out in our comments below!
