The one and only Mary Wilson of The Supremes joined us in studio this morning to talk about playing the best of Motown hits tonight at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts with the original Vandellas and The Contours!
“Tonight is basically gonna be the Motown hits,” Mary said. “It’s gonna be a straight Motown sound.”
Mary talked about reuniting with her former Motown pals for the show tonight saying they’re “my best buddies – we all started out there…we all used to do the the Motown Review Tours…so much fun.”
Reminiscing about her days on tour and recording such memorable hits with The Supremes that are still beloved songs to this day, Mary tells us that if it hadn’t had been for Motown founder, Berry Gordy, “Hitsville, USA” may have never existed.
“You gotta give Berry Gordy credit for having that dream,” said Mary. “Had he not had the dream of owning his own record company maybe all of this wouldn’t have happened. He had a place and those who had talent came to that place.”
