Neil Young’s New Video Pays Tribute To Bob Dylan, The Grateful Dead, Roy Orbison

Neil Young & Crazy Horse have been on a tear lately. Besides releasing two studio albums this year (and possibly planning a live one as well), they’ve put out a lot of music videos lately (including a 40-minute film for their Americana album).

This week, they’ve released two new music videos for songs from their upcoming album, Psychedelic Pill.

“Twisted Road” is a tribute to some of Young’s favorite artists — namely, Bob Dylan, The Grateful Dead and Roy Orbison. The video features vintage footage of all three, who are all name dropped in the lyrics. Dylan gets the most airtime: “First time I heard ‘Like A Rolling Stone,’ I felt that magic and took it home/Poetry rolling off his tongue/like Hank Williams chewing bubble gum/asking me, ‘How does it feel?'” (Perhaps this was paying back Bob for giving Neil a shout-out in his 1997 song “Highlands”: “I’m listening to Neil Young, I gotta turn up the sound/Someone’s always yelling, ‘Turn it down!'”)

Watch the “Twisted Road” video below.

“Twisted Road” clocks in at a modest 3:36. If you’ve got a little more time, you might want to check out one of Psychedelic Pill‘s more epic songs, “Ramada Inn,” which is nearly 17 minutes long. Watch that video one below.

Last month, Young released the album’s first video, for “Walk Like A Giant,” which you can watch here.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse’s Psychedelic Pill will be released on October 30.  Meanwhile, the documentary of his last tour, Journeys, is out now, as is his memoirs, Waging Heavy Peace.
