Remember that viral photo of those pranksters who set up a fancy dinner table on the closed 405 freeway during last year’s ‘Carmageddon?’ Well, during this year’s Carmageddon II weekend, police warned the city that if any similar pranks were tried on the closed stretch this year, violators would be arrested on the spot.
Some people decided not to heed those warnings, including former pro skateboarder, Cindy Whitehead. According to CBS 2, Whitehead and her husband, professional photographer Ian Logan, not only made their way on to the 405 freeway for a two-minute joyride on a skateboard, but captured the moment for another iconic ‘Carmageddon’ photo.
Despite police warnings of arrest for trespassing onto the freeway, Whitehead wasn’t cited for her stunt, telling CBS 2,“I’m glad I did it. I’m glad it’s done. It was a lot of fun, it was fun for two minutes. And it’s something I can say I have done. Not too many people can say they have ridden the 405 Freeway on a skateboard.”
Seven other violators weren’t so lucky, however. A total of four rollerbladers, a newlywed couple and one pedestrian were all cited by police for entering the shut down stretch of road.
