With round two of the 405 freeway closures Los Angelenos have so lovingly dubbed ‘Carmageddon II’ approaching this weekend (Sept. 29-30), many city officials have warned drivers not to risk using the freeways in order to avoid a potential traffic jam.
The numerous reminders worked during last July’s closures as many Angelenos stayed near home leaving very little freeway traffic for those who did travel. Now, in order to make it another non-existent Carmageddon nightmare, the Mayor and city officials have asked everyone to repeat the success of the last closure and ‘eat, shop and play’ locally.
Thanks to the official Metro website, a handy interactive map has been set up for different neighborhoods in Los Angeles with stores, restaurants and attractions offering discounts and deals during the Carmageddon weekend.
To use, simply choose an area of L.A. from the map’s drop-down menu and click on the color-coordinated pins to find businesses with special discounts for the weekend!
Some of the discounts include half-priced admission to LACMA and the LaBrea Tar Pits, a two for one deal on the Museum of Contemporary Art tickets, discount tickets for Cirque du Soleil’s enchanting IRIS performance, and a complimentary appetizer at The Grill on Hollywood.
Click away at the interactive map in your area here, or download the complete list of local discounts offered this weekend here.
