A new Vanity Fair article on stands today has exposed claims of an alleged “top-secret Scientology project” that was used to search for a desirable girlfriend for Tom Cruise.
The article claims the controversial church held in-depth “auditions” of potential women to date Cruise before his marriage to Katie Holmes.
One of the women Vanity Fair spoke to was Nazanin Boniadi, and Iranian-born, London-raised actress, who was selected to date Cruise from November 2004 until January 2005, reports CBS News.
Boniadi revealed the intense selection process and background check she was put through by the church, and claims she basically had to change her entire life in order to date Cruise.
Some of the wildest claims she made to the publication included that the church ran a thorough check of her past relationships, she had to dump her current boyfriend at the time, and even had to make changes to her look that included getting rid of braces, her red highlights and darkening her hair like Penelope Cruise.
She also claims in the article that she got in trouble for congratulating Tom a “job well done” on receiving an honor from the church because it made her seem like his “superior.”
After Cruise dumped Boniadi, she said she was punished by the church for crying over the breakup by having to “scrub toilets with toothbrushes, clean bathroom tiles with acid, and dig ditches in the middle of the night.”
Of course Cruise’s lawyers are denying any of these wild accusations that have surfaced, saying the article is “long, boring and false.”
