A TV news helicopter had a scare of a lifetime when smoke began spewing from the back engine while covering a shooting in Hollywood on Monday.
CBS’ SKY2 pilot Dan Catalano noticed that KTLA’s helicopter was spewing smoke from the engine and notified KTLA pilot Tim Lynn of the problem. He promptly declared an emergency on the radio and quickly found a vacant parking lot near Highland to safely land the helicopter.
Both Lynn and news photographer Jeff Laabs (who was just on his second day of the job) escaped uninjured, but definitely had quite the scare.
