Elvis’ Dirty Underwear Up For Auction
We’ve seen a lot of bizarro rock memorabilia up on the auction block in our day (*cough* Michael Jackson’s death bed/John Lennon’s tooth *cough*), but this one might take the cake.
The BBC reports that Elvis Presley’s unwashed, previously worn pair of light blue briefs are up for auction to the highest bidder.
The briefs, which still have visible stains on the front, were worn underneath The King’s famous white jumpsuit at a concert in 1977. They were specially designed for Elvis so no visible lines would appear under his suit.
Who would want to buy a pair of The King’s dirty underwear worn 35 years ago during a concert? Apparently there’s plenty of interest from collectors around the world. The auction house, Omega Auctions, expects the framed undies to fetch an estimated $10,000 – $14,000.
The briefs were obtained by the Estate of Vernon Presley, Elvis’ father, and will go up on the auction block Sept. 8. Other items up for sale in the Elvis Presley pop memorabilia auction include Elvis’ Holy Bible and 16mm film footage taken from Priscilla Presley’s personal video camera.
Omega Auctions will stream the entire event taking place in Stockport, Greater Manchester, so you can place your bids on his dirty underwear and more!
