Today we start the week with KC & The Sunshine Band on ‘Tickets @2′ with their hit “Shake Your Booty.”

It was the third of five #1 hits for KC & The Sunshine Band. A song directly inspired by dance moves observed at the clubs in 1976. The Bump was big back then, and every once in a while you’d see someone break loose and shake their booty like Jell-O, according to Harry Wayne Casey (KC) and bass player Rick Finch.

Because the song mentions “Booty” it almost didn’t get airplay on radio stations, but it somehow got past the censors.

When we play it between two and three we’ll take caller #7 at 1-800-232-KRTH (5784) to win a pair of tickets to see Stephanie Mills Saturday September 15th at Club Nokia.
