Los Angeles could soon be a three-time host of the summer Olympics, that is if City Councilman Tom LaBonge’s effort to bring back the games to the city is accepted.
LaBonge is leading the motion to place a bid for L.A. to host a future summer games, possibly in 2032 to mark the centennial anniversary of the first L.A. games in 1932.
He is expected to call the Southern California Committee for the Olympic Games Friday to introduce the bid for L.A., according to CBS LA. The last time L.A. hosted the games was in 1984.
LaBonge said in a statement, “Los Angeles has the weather and the history, and now with 45 London medals to Los Angeles’ name, we have the athletes, too.”
What do you think about the games coming back for a third time to L.A.?
