Lisa Stanley’s cousin Allyson Adams, daughter of actor Nick Adams (Rebel Without A Cause), joined us on the phone this morning to talk about her new book based on her father’s manuscripts detailing his friendship with Elvis Presley.

The book The Rebel And The King, includes the raw manuscripts of Nick Adams depicting his friendship with The King and his experience during the eight days in Memphis of Elvis’ Tupelo Homecoming in the summer of ’56.

Allyson tells us her father and Elvis met in 1956 on the set of Love Me Tender, and since he was new to Hollywood, Adams showed Elvis around town and introduced him to the who’s who of Hollywood.

She tells us the one thing in the book that might surprise Elvis fans is that her father wrote about a very young, innocent Elvis.

“He really just paints a portrait of a spiritual Elvis, because this was so early in his career before the army, before his mother passed. It’s kind of a last glimpse of innocence before the end of an era,” explained Allyson.
