Reporting Jim Carson

Today’s ‘Tickets @2′ song of the day is “Good Times” by Chic, a #1 single for the group in 1979.

The songwriters were Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers. They were influenced largely by Milto Ager’s “Happy Days Are Here Again.” It also contains lines based on lyrics featured in “About a Quarter to Nine” made famous many years ago by Al Jolson.

Nile Rodgers said that the depression-era lyrics were used as a hidden way to comment on the then-current economic depression in the United States.

We’ll take caller #10 at 1-800-232-KRTH (5784) when “Good Times” plays between two and three for a pair of tickets to see “Total Recall” courtesy of Regal Entertainment Group.
