An 11-year-old singer named Harper Gruzins has received a lot of negative attention on the web for a recent performance  of the National Anthem in front of a crowd of thousands before an FC Dallas-L.A. Galaxy game on Saturday.

According to NY Daily News, Gruzins told FoxNews that “It wasn’t my best performance because I couldn’t hear myself and the blowhorns got me off key. But God allowed this to happen, so I know it’s what he wants. So I wouldn’t change it. Next time I hope there’s no blowhorns.”

Her performance drew criticism from one writer on Deadspin, who called it the “worst National Anthem rendition ever,” and continued to write harsh critiques about the young girl’s performance so her ego would be “knocked down a few notches.”

Following the hurtful comments, the girl’s parents quickly came to her defense and called out the writer’s comments as “mean and hurtful.”

“She was not used to the echo and she knew once she started,” said her mom Kelli Gruzins. “But we just know she did her best and this is what she loves to do.”

So what do you think? Is Harper’s rendition of the National Anthem really the worst ever and deserve such negative comments?
