Just five shows into Aerosmith’s Global Warming tour, the Boston-bred rockers must reschedule a tour stop. Tonight’s (July 3rd) show in Bristow, Virginia at Jiffy Lube Live has been moved to August 12, according to a post on the band’s official Facebook.

The reason for rescheduling: “Steven Tyler is under doctor’s orders to refrain from performing to provide vocal rest,” reads Aerosmith’s statement, which was released yesterday. In 2006, Tyler underwent surgery on his throat to reverse a ruptured blood vessel.

Aerosmith’s next show is scheduled for Thursday (July 5) in Detroit. The Global Warming tour kicked off June 16 in Minneapolis, business as usual despite American Idol-related feuding between Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry in 2010. The tour wraps August 8 in Tacoma, Washington.

Originally, the tour was billed as being in conjunction with the release of Aerosmith’s new album, Music From Another Dimension, first slated for release August 28. The album’s release date recently moved all the way back to November 6, with Tyler citing an interesting reason as to why.

“It’s pushed back because too many people are releasing those weeks, and we don’t want to step on their release dates,” Tyler said in a recent radio interview. “So we said, ‘You know what, we got the goods, ain’t no doubt about [it], we’ll wait a couple months.’”

Music From Another Dimension will be the band’s first album since 2001′s Just Push Play. The album’s first single, “Legendary Child,” was released last month. According to Tyler, there will be two more singles from the album released before November 6.
