Did You Know: “My World Is Empty Without You” By The Supremes

This is the song to listen for on ‘Tickets @ 2′ this afternoon, it’s The Supremes “My World Is Empty Without You.”

Like many Supremes songs, it’s a tale of heartache with an uptempo beat. Legendary Motown session musicians the Funk Brothers supplied the track.

The Supremes performed the song on The Ed Sullivan Show on Sunday, February 20, 1966. For a long time, it was widely rumored that session singers provided backup vocals rather than Supremes Mary Wilson and Florance Ballard. However, this is totally untrue. The mix in the song has a two sound low in volume in order to emphasize Diana Ross’ lead.

When we play it between two and three we’ll take caller #7 at 1-800-232-KRTH (5784) to win tickets the Grease Sing-A-Long at the Hollywood Bowl.
