We had the pleasure of having Extra TV host Maria Menounos join us as a special guest this morning to fill in while Lisa Stanley is on vacation, and she mentioned something pretty interesting on air earlier.

Having just thrown a wild Hawaiian-themed birthday party last week, Maria talked about the party pictures that surfaced of her and Mel Gibson gettin’ down and funky.

She tells us that she didn’t have prior knowledge that Mel was going to show up to her party, but that her friend did and left his appearance as a surprise for her.

Maria and Mel were later seen dancing and having a good time together, which she says might be practice for him to get on a certain celebrity dancing show Maria herself is so familiar with.

“I think he’s auditioning for Dancing With The Stars to be honest, and I think he has a really good chance,” said Maria. “You should have seen his moves, he was great.”

Mel? On DWTS? You seriously think he’s going to do DWTS, Maria?

“I don’t know, I’m going to start that rumor,” she added.

You heard it here first. Mel Gibson might just be putting on his dancing shoes for the next season of Dancing With The Stars. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
