Twenty-four years after their debut album hit stores, Jane’s Addiction is joining the likes of The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The band is due to receive its star in 2013, alongside powerhouse ’60s vocalist Janis Joplin, Usher and the Backstreet Boys. A specific date has yet to be announced for the music stars’ Walk of Fame ceremonies.
Janis Joplin has seen renewed interest in recent months following the release of unheard material from her legendary Pearl sessions. Joplin’s Pearl was released posthumously in 1971, following her 1970 death at the young age of 27.
Jane’s Addiction has made its mark on fans with four studio albums and 17 singles, as well as countless headlining tours and appearances at festivals like Lollapalooza, which frontman Perry Farrell founded. Jane’s Addiction’s 1990 album Ritual de lo Habitual is certified by the RIAA as 3x platinum.
The band tweeted its excitement to receive the Hollywood honor:
We’re incredibly honored to receive a Star on the Walk of Fame! Stay tuned for more exciting news…walkoffame.com/pages/press
