Today marks the 79th anniversary of the very first drive-in movie theater, which opened in Camden, New Jersey in 1933 showing the film Wife Beware. To mark the special occasion, Google revealed their latest Google Doodle paying tribute to the nostalgia of the drive-in.

There’s nothing quite like the experience of going to a retro drive-in theater, but finding an operating theater these days is the hard part. We found a few still operating around Los Angeles and surrounding areas so you can revisit the fun of the drive-in!

California is one of the top states that has the most drive-in theaters still in operation with 20 around the state. Here are a few in the SoCal area if you’re looking to travel back in time at the drive-in!
