Soon, Angelenos will be able to relive the magic of seeing your favorite movie classics back on the big screen in the next best thing to an old-fashioned drive-in.
Coming out just in time for summer, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will debut a new outdoor theater that will screen old and newer movie gems in a bi-weekly film series, “Outdoor Oscars.”
Running from June 15-August 18, “Oscars Outdoors” will screen beloved movie titles every Friday and Saturday in the new outdoor theater located on the Academy Hollywood campus.
Movies scheduled to show on the giant 40 by 20 foot screen include Casablanca, The Goonies, The Nutty Professor, The Princess Bride, Dreamgirls, North By Northwest, Back To The Future and even an audience’s choice!
Tickets will go on sale starting June 1 and cost a reasonable $5 with an added bonus of FREE parking at the Academy Hollywood. Plus, to serve all those movie munchies, food trucks provided by Roaming Hunger will be on site during the screenings.
There’s nothing like reliving the nostalgia of laying outdoors in the summer to re-watch your favorite movies! Click here for more information and to see the complete “Oscars Outdoors” schedule.
