Today's Tickets @ 2 Song: "Walk Like An Egyptian" by Bangles

Did You Know: “The Tracks Of My Tears” By Smokey Robinson & The Miracles

This afternoon’s ‘Tickets @ 2′ song of the day is “The Tracks Of My Tears” by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles.

Miracles members Smokey Robinson, Warren Moore, and Marv Tarplin wrote it. Robinson wrote the lyrics, Tarplin, The Miracles’ guitarist, came up with the riff.

Tarplin got the idea for the music after listening to a calypso tune – Harry Belafonte’s “The Banana Boat Song (Day-O)”

This was a bigger chart hit for Johnny Rivers when he covered it in 1967. His version Hit #10. Linda Ronstadt also covered the song in 1976.

Motwon head Berry Gordy considers this Robinson’s best work.

When you hear it between two and three we’ll take the 10th caller at 1-800-232-KRTH (5784) to win tickets to see Cirque Du La Symphonie at the Segerstrom.
