Bob Dylan’s ‘Blood On The Tracks’: Coming To A Theater Near You

Troubled Dylan tales like “Tangled Up In Blue” and “You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go” will soon to be interpreted for the big screen. Variety reports that Bob Dylan’s seminal 1975 album, Blood On The Tracks, will be adapted into an English-language film.

Brazil-based production company RT Features has acquired the rights to one of Dylan’s most celebrated albums, including the original rights to the songs. No director is currently attached to the project, with the production company currently in discussions.

“As longtime admirers of one of the greatest albums in the history of music, we feel privileged to be making this film,” said RT Features’
Rodrigo Teixeira, a producer on the film. “Our goal is to work with a filmmaker who can create a classic drama with characters and an environment that capture the feelings that the album inspires in all fans.”

Blood On The Tracks, released by Columbia Records, hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart in 1975 and has since gone certified double Platinum. While many suspect that the dark, seemingly confessional album was inspired by Dylan’s separation from then-wide Sara Dylan, the folk hero has stated that Blood On The Tracks was inspired by the short stories of Russian author Anton Chekhov.

Dylan’s 11-minute musical tale “Brownsville Girl” previously had a film aspect attached to it, spear-headed by Dylan himself and potentially starring Brad Pitt. In 2007, with the release of I’m Not There, the many phases and faces of Dylan were molded into film of vignettes by director Todd Haynes and a star-studded cast including Richard Gere, Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett.
