The Fab Four’s 1968 psychedelic movie “Yellow Submarine” has been digitally restored and will be released on DVD on Blu-ray May 28th complete with bonus features including a making-of-documentary, the original theatrical trailer, audio commentary, interviews, behind-the scenes photos, and more.

It took specialists working on the animated movie four months to individually clean each frame of by hand rather than automated software.  The original film, complete with live-action photography and animation, took nearly two years to put together by 40 animators and 140 technical artists.

Each newly released DVD and Blu-ray also comes with reproductions of cels from the film, collectible stickers and a 16-page essay by Walt Disney/Pixar Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter.

May 28th also marks the release of the film’s soundtrack, which includes the songs “All Together Now” and “All You Need Is Love.”
