Betty White Tops ‘Most Liked Celebrity’ Poll

A new survey conducted by E-Poll Market Research asked people which celebrity they like the most, and not surprisingly, 90-year-old Betty White topped the list for 2011 for the second year in a row.

A whopping 53 percent surveyed voted Betty as the most liked celebrity for 2011. Coming in right behind is Sandra Bullock, Michael J. Fox, and slipping from one of the top spots last year is Tyler Perry at only 20 percent of the vote.

Congrats to BETTY! (Stiil a modern “Golden Girl”). I remember watching her on Golden Girls (she was terrific as Rose Nylan) and Sue Ann Nivens on The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

Bett reminds me of my late great aunt Irene who passed away back in 2003 at the age of 94. She has the same mannerisms as my aunt Irene and seems so genuine, gentle and kind as my great aunt Irene was. She used to tell me, “the wake you make your bed in life is the way your going to sleep” At the time, I didn’t know what the hell she meant (no life experiences, but now I do). It would be an honor and a thrill to meet her one day and tell her my story. I’ve read a little about her in her biograpy and she seems to be a captivating, lively and wonderful woman.

My great aunt also used to say (being born in Riga Latvia of Russian descent), “There is an old Russian proverb, measure seven times before cutting once”. Now I know what that means, but I bet there are many people out there that don’t who have a goddamn clue as tow what those two sayings mean.

I’m trying to “make my bed in life as best as i can” as RainbowRay and Eric’s Mirror are for my family who are now gone as well (including my great aunt Irene, God rest her soul).

If she were here today, you know what she’d say, she’d say in her own gentle way, “I’m so happy for you sweetheart that you found a nice girl to settle down with” (she’s the only woman in my life growing and into my adult years who ever called me “sweetheart”) and I knew she meant it.

Sharing is caring and caring is sharing; living is giving and giving is living
Don’t be shy, give it a try—do you remember any valuable life sayings that members of your family passed onto you over the years? Try thinking about them, write them down and pass them on to members of your own family or with friends. I know I will!
