On ‘Tickets @ 2′ the song of the day is “Margaritaville” by [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Jimmy Buffett[/lastfm].
Buffett wrote the hit in Key West, Florida after he finished a tour with the group, the Choral Reefer Band. They just finished a tour through Texas, and Buffett spent some time drinking Margaritas in a Mexican Restaurant with a friend before going back to Key West. When he arrived, he sat at the Old Anchor Inn watching gridlock on the roads-and used it as inspiration as he composed the song.
Buffett always loved sailing and when this song became a Top 10 hit, he was able to buy a 43 foot sailing Yacht. Since then he took up flying and owns a couple of vintage airplanes in addition to boats and the famous Margaritaville chain of stores.
When we play it between two and three we’ll take caller # 14 at 1-800-232-KRTH (5784)to win a pair of tickets to see Heart at the Pacific Amphitheatre.
