After a long search for a new lead singer to front [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Queen[/lastfm] on the road, which included contenders like [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lady Gaga[/lastfm], original members, guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor, have chosen American Idol season 8 runner up, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Adam Lambert[/lastfm] as the new frontman!
Lambert has paid his dues with the band, previously performing with them on the season finally of Idol, as well as on 2011′s MTV EMAs, and though he can never replace Freddie Mercury’s image, he can definitely hold his own when singing Queen’s songs.

Lambert confirmed that he’s hitting the road with May and Taylor for Queen’s summer tour in 2012, telling Britain’s Daily Star, “The intention is to pay tribute to Freddie and the band by singing some f*cking great songs. It’s to keep the music alive for the fans and give it an energy that Freddie would have been proud of.”
Rumors of Lambert’s possible involvement with the band came up in December when Taylor praised the Idol singer in an interview with Billboard.
“He has grown into a really great performer with an astonishing voice with a range that’s great. We would like to work with him again. There’s nothing signed just yet but we’re talking about live dates. It could be very exciting,” said Taylor.
Even more excited is Lambert, who is thrilled for the opportunity. “Being asked to front Queen is the best thing that can possibly happen,” Lambert gushed.
