This is a no-brainer – Elvis IS Rock N Roll – the Beatles are great too, but Elvis is the the KING!!

  • Ken Koogle

4 to 1 Elvis over Beatles?! Unbelieveable. The Beatles were writers as well as recording artists and penned some of the best songs in history. Elvis never did. No one will ever take away Elvis’ pioneer status or reign as King, but the Beatles were untouchable.

  • Janet O.

    Elvis started it all.

  • Sandy Valadez

It should be Elvis, for three reasons:
    1. It’s YOUR show, you get to decide.
    2. You are RIGHT.
    3. IT’S ELVIS !!! Those people who are voting for the Beatles are too young. They weren’t there then, they don’t get it. No one tops Elvis, not ever! And- if you are going on influence, Elvis is the King of Rock & Roll, but Chuck Berry is the Father of Rock & Roll, and Roy Orbison rates way up there too. If you are going on how much airplay on your station, any computer can figure that. It doesn’t make someone the greatest.

    • Woody

And if they base it on air play, then Elton John would have to be #1 over either Elvis or The Beatles. No, I don’t want EJ to be number 1 (I’m sick of hearing him), it just seems that I hear more EJ than Elvis and the Beatles combined.

  • Duane Yost

Elvis is the King of Rock and Roll! Even the Beatles idolized Elvis. He started it and they revolutionized rock. Maybe make it a tie.

  • Jeremy

The Beatles are unquestionably the best and most important band in rock history! K-Earth doesn’t even play that much Elvis… The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, and Elton John all get more play on K-Earth than Elvis. Deservedly so.

  • Jeremy

Why are “The Beatles” spelled wrong on the poll??? Blasphemy!

  • val jones

Elvis was iconic, a fantastic performer and musician. He did not write any songs however thanks to the Col. He received song credits, collaborated and arranged. The Beatles were well rounded musicians, who produced and performed all aspects of their music. Shouldn’t KEarths Hall of Fame be led by the artists who were the most talented, all around professional musicians?

  • Woody

In Bill Harry’s “The Beatles Encyclopedia: Revised and Updated” (2000, London: Virgin. ISBN 978-0-7535-0481-9), John Lennon said, “Nothing really affected me until I heard Elvis. If there hadn’t been Elvis, there would not have been The Beatles”.

So how can you put the student before the teacher?

  • Alice

Thank you mary, Without the early starters there would be no beatles!!!! Besides they weren’t even born here so give me a break there should be no discussion. To be honest I am really sick of the Sunday morning crap on all the stations. How about giving some of the others a chance

  • Dave

NEITHER. It should be DIANA ROSS & The Supremes !!!

  • http://Diane Diane

Serious Gary The world knows ELVIS as the KING the Beatles are known as the Beatles (and I love the Beatles)

What is up with you playing Beatle songs and no ELVIS songs???? Every time you play a Beatles song you should play an ELVIS song…Please play You were always on my mind……

Do you need to ask who I vote for?????LOL
    Thank You

  • http://Diane Diane

Gary really, ELVIS is known around the world as the KING the Beatles are the Beatles (and I love them also)

I want to know why you play Beatle songs and no ELVIS songs so every time you play a Beatle song you should play an ELVIS song!!! Please play Your were always on my mind by the one and only KING…Elvis…Thank You!!!

  • Bob

I’m with Gary. I like Beatles over Elvis, however Elvis was first.

  • John Engstrom

Elvis should be number one. He managed to create the sound that crossed over from R&B, Country and Rock and Roll. Elvis had 18 #1 hits on the Billboard Pop Charts. He hit #2 on the Billboard Pop Charts 6 times. So, he could have very easily had 24 #1 hits. Elvis was the first artist to have both sides of a record hit #1 on the Billboard Pop Charts. He did this in August 1956 with “Don’t Be Cruel” and “Hound Dog”. He had three songs that hit #1 on the Billboard Pop Charts, R&B Charts and Country Charts. I believe that the songs were “Don’t Be Cruel”, “(Let Me Be You) Teddy Bear” and “Good Luck Charm”. No other artist ever did this! He had 38 songs that hit the Billboard’s Top 10 Pop Charts and he had more than 100 songs that hit the Billboard Top 100 Pop Charts. He also starred in 33 movies. Elvis was and will always be the King of Rock and Roll. More artists have tried to emulate Elvis’ style as a singer than anyone else.

  • ngan

Beatles, of course. At least they wrote their own songs. And, their songs are timeless. you still hear more of their songs than elvis on the radio and on tv/film. when was the last time Kearth even played an Elvis song?

  • Phoebus1

Its a “cyclical pattern”…When Elvis arrived on the scene he influenced many English and European young musicians…when The Beatles forged the “British Invasion” opening the way for a “refined” and newer “pop” sound they initiated many newer aspects of being a iconic group. (i.e.) Bringing back guitar oriented sounds across the board / writing their own material / producing and innovating a new direction in pop music (Sgt. Pepper) with a theme to an LP/ Lyrics included on LP….all these factors put them as “pioneers”, innovators and raising the standard of pop music so that 50 years after their inception- young bands still emulate their sound/music more than Elvis. (I like Elvis too), but The Beatles take the # 1 position.

  • Cassy

Elvis was first, but that doesn’t mean he was better. The list is for ranking the best artists, not based on chronological order. Personally, I think The Beatles deserve to be No. 1. I like their overall style more (and, judging from the later years, it was not entirely Elvis-based), plus they actually wrote most their own songs.

So what if Elvis did not write his music. He not only could sing Rock & Roll, Gospel & Country. Not to take away from The Beatles because they were good in their own right. You are forgetting that Elvis was an inspiration for them. I still say ELVIS is #1

  • Sylvia Aimerito

    Elvis. ‘nuf said.

  • Kelly

I saw Elvis when I was 7 years old.He made a great impact on my life.He will always be the King of Rock and Roll.

  • Sean

The Beatles should RULE! They wrote and later on produced their own songs. PLUS they influenced generarions of musicians.

  • Bob

Without question it has to be the Beatles because they (and this is not opinionated, this is fact) had the most impact on popular music, they revolutionized it. Of course Elvis was enormous in starting it all and still is easily one of the greatest and sure he highly influenced them but someone influenced HIM too! Does that person deserve his credit? No. The Beatles’ impact was bigger. Whether you prefer their music or not…
