Your ‘Tickets @ 2′ song of the day is “Brown Eyed Girl” by [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Van Morrison[/lastfm].
Originally called “Brown Skinned Girl,” and was about an interracial relationship. Morrison changed it to “Brown Eyed Girl” to make it more palatable for radio. Some stations banned it anyway for the line, “Making Love in the green grass.”
This was Van’s first release as a solo artist. He previously lead the Irish garage band group ‘Them.’ They had the big hit “Gloria.”
“Brown Eyed Girl” was awarded a “Million-Air” certificate at the 2009 BMI London Awards Dinner, presented in recognition of songs by European artist that have achieved multi million US radio and television performances. The hit topped the 2009 list with an astounding nine million performances, since it was first recorded.
When you hear it play between two and three we’ll take caller #7 at 1-800-232-KRTH (5784) to win a pair of tickets to see the Oscar nominated movie “The Artist.”
