Jim Carrey’s Daughter, Jane, Auditions For ‘American Idol’
On Sunday night’s special episode of American Idol, a very surprising hopeful came out to audition for one of the coveted golden tickets to Hollywood. The daughter of funnyman Jim Carrey stepped into the spotlight for her turn to shine her vocal talents in front of the judges.
Jane Carrey, 24, is trying to make a name for herself with a singing career, and it definitely doesn’t hurt that judge [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Jennifer Lopez[/lastfm] used to work with her dad as a ‘Fly Girl’ on the comedy show In Living Color!
In her pre-recorded video interview, Jane talks about growing up with her famous father and now trying to step out of his shadow to make a name for herself.
“It was definitely fun growing up with him as a father, he’s not the most extravagant celebrity so it’s been fairly normal — fairly. Everyone growing up has their issue with identity and trying to find themselves,” she said. “It is difficult kind of growing up in the shadow of something and trying to find your place in the world under the huge shadow. The last name definitely helps and hurts, I feel like there’s kind of this pressure to maybe be better, because if I make it somewhere, I run the risk of people saying ‘Oh you only got there because of this.'”
She definitely has what it takes as a singer and got three yeses from the judges to the next round in Hollywood! Watch her audition in the video below!
