Long Beach is blessed with 5 dog parks; I guess you would say the city is very dog friendly. However, those poor, poor dogs in East Long Beach, well, they have no park to call their own….yet! El Dorado Park is a very large park with many trees and grassy area; it’s an ideal spot for a large off-leash dog park. In the past two years, menbers of FEDDP have met with LB city representatives, Parks and Rec officials and members of the community about creating a dog park at El Dorado. And yea!! City officials said yep, and the Parks Commissioner passed the ‘concept’ of a dog park on November 10, 2011.
Yippee, bow-wow, and woof, woof woof; that’s all great news. Now the hard part – getting money to construct the new, high-tech, state-of-the-art dog park at El Dorado in Long Beach. Hmmmmm, dogs aren’t very good at raising money. In fact, let’s face it, they’re awful at it. BUT the fine folks at Friends of El Dorado Dog Park are really good at it. So, dog lovers, especially dog lovers who live in Long Beach, please support this worthy cause.
