‘Jersey Boys’ Making The Jump To The Big Screen

The Tony award-winning musical Jersey Boys, which depicts the rise of  [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons[/lastfm], will finally get the Hollywood treatment!

After the film rights became available in late 2010, a bidding war between major studios and directors like Steven Spielberg, Warner Bros. Tom Hanks and Twentieth Century Fox were all beat out by the high bidder GK Films, which shelled out a substantial seven-figure price to own the rights.

Now, the story of those Jersey Boys is already in development to make the jump from the Broadway stage to the big screen!

The film just brought on Oscar-nominated writer John Logan (Gladiator, The Aviator) to adapt the hit musical for the big screen. GK Films’ Graham King is producing the film with his partner Tim Headington, with Frankie Valli and Four Seasons member Bob Gaudio also serving as executive producer.

The authors of the book in which the hit musical Jersey Boys is based off of, Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, will also be involved with the film adaptation of the incredible story of the rise of this blue-collar group into international superstars.

King stated that his team is “very excited about making this award-winning musical. As a group, we collectively decided to go to John to adapt this incredible story.”

No roles have yet been cast, but the movie version of Jersey Boys is expected for release sometime in 2014.

I love Broadway Musicals and judging from what I’ve just read, I think “Jersey Boys” could be a hit. I’ve loved the Four Seasons since my teens. The only musicals I have seen are “Phantom of the Opera” (twice) and “Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat” (once, played by Donny Osmaond. Loved the song “Any Dream WIll Do” and I remember watching the kids chorus and was amazed at the singing. This was back in 91 I think!).

Check out the song “Opus 17” by the Four Seasons on fallopian YOUTUBE. I first heard that song when I was in my early teens (started to get into the oldies back then). I still LOVE this song and I believe the actual piece is based on “classical music”, just lke The Toys song, ‘Lovers’s Concerto. Remember that one?
