Lionel Richie Signs On As Musical Adviser For ‘The Voice’

The breakout musical competition series The Voice is gearing up for its second season premiering right after the Super Bowl, and it’s aiming to be even bigger this season with the help of several famous artists on board as advisers.

With the appeal of the four star judges, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, The Voice is bringing on eight more heavy hitters including [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lionel Richie[/lastfm] for season two.

Eight superstar artists will join The Voice as musical advisers to the four main coaches during the battle round segment of the singing competition series.

The show has brought on Lionel Richie, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Kelly Clarkson[/lastfm], Kenny “[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Babyface[/lastfm]” Edmonds, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Jewel[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Miranda Lambert[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Alanis Morissette[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Ne-Yo[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Robin Thicke[/lastfm] as the eight advisers who will team up with the coaches to decide which contestant will stay or go home during the battle round duets.

Team Team Adam will feature Morissette and Thicke; Team Christina will feature Jewel and Richie; Team Cee Lo will feature by Edmonds and Ne-Yo; and Team Blake will feature his wife Lambert and Clarkson.

“These renowned musicians will bring their unique and recognizable musical styles to the teams,” said Paul Telegdy, NBC president of late night and alternative programming. “They are well-respected singers whose invaluable experience will be a tremendous asset to Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton’s artists.”

Season two of The Voice premieres directly following the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 5 at 10 p.m. and returns to its regular schedule the next day on Monday, Feb. 6 at 8 p.m.
