Did You Know: “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas” By Dionne Warwick
This afternoon on ‘Tickets @ 2′ be listening for a Christmas Classic by [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Dionne Warwick[/lastfm], “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas.”
Born Marie Dionne Warrick, her last name was misspelled on the label of her first single 45 “Don’t Make Me Over,” so she started using the incorrect “Warwick.”
She added an ‘E’ to her last name in the early ’70s on the advice of a psychic claiming that the extra letter would give her “positive energy” and “great success.” Her string of 22 top 40 hits suddenly stopped–she had only one top 40 hit with the modified name. The extra ‘E’ was removed when she changed labels-and the hits resumed.
When we play her Christmas Classic between two and three we’ll take caller # 7 at 1-800-232-KRTH (5784) to win a pair of tickets to “Cats” at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts.
