Did You Know: “Jive Talkin'” By The Bee Gees

It’s “Jive Talkin'” on ‘Tickets @ 2’ today, the first big dance hit for the group [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Bee Gees[/lastfm], it reached #1 on the music chart.

The working title was “Drive Talking,” but producer Arif Mardin suggested the change to “Jive” to play to teenage sensibilities.

Maurice Gibb said they got the intro sound idea from driving over a bridge from Biscayne Bay to Miami. Some tar noises made a rhythmic sound on the wheels of our car, which created the type of feel we wanted for the song.

We’ll take caller #12 at 1-800-232-KRTH (5784) when we play it between two and three for a pair of tickets to see “Surfin Safari” the ultimate tribute to the Beach Boys Christmas Show on Sunday, December 11th at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano.

“Jive Talkin”, I remember when that first came out; I think I was 15. How about “Stayin Alive”, “NIght Fever” and “More Than A Woman?” I think my favorite Bee-Gee Tunes would have to be “How Do You Mend A Broken Heart”, “Massachusets” and “Gotta Get a Message To You”. All great classic Bee Gee’s Hits don’tcha think?
