Today on ‘Tickets @ 2’ it’s one of the most misinterpreted songs ever — The Police’s “Every Breath You Take.” It’s about an obsessive stalker, but sounds like a love song. Some people even use it in their wedding.
Police frontman Sting wrote it after separating from his first wife, Francis Tomeltry. Sting said in a 1983 interview that: “I think it’s a nasty little song, really rather evil.”
It was the biggest hit of 1983. It stayed at # 1 for 8 weeks.
Sting wrote the lyrics on the same desk in Jamaica where Ian Fleming wrote his James Bond Novels.
We’ll look for caller # 18 when it plays between two and three for a pair of tickets to see Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band December 28th at Staples Center by calling 1-800-232-KRTH (5784).
