‘Ticket’s @ 2′ today is all about being friends, it’s [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]War[/lastfm]‘s “Why Can’t We Be Friends?”
The band got the idea for the song when they were traveling in Japan in the early ’70s. War drummer Harold Brown observed that we’re all connected by language, food, and culture.
Every verse was sung by a different member of the band. The song makes a statement about the absurdity of judging others based on our differences.
The group recorded the song at Crystal Studios in Hollywood, where artists like [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Stevie Wonder[/lastfm] and The Fabulous Thunderbirds also recorded.
Harold Brown said: “We Are Righteous, that’s what War stood for. We were trying to bring people together with our music.”
Caller # 17 when we play it between two and three will be our ‘Tickets @ 2′ winner of a pair of tickets to see the Brenton Wood “Old School Revues” featuring Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King at San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino, plus ‘Slot-Chips’ and Buffet dinner for two by calling 1-800-232-KRTH (5784).
